Spaceships are a feature introduced in Version 1.20, alongside the introduction of Artifacts. They are the primary means of obtaining Artifacts, Ingredients, and Eggfinity Stones.

Unlocking Spaceships[]

Upon acquiring 10,000 Soul Eggs, and after having reached the Rocket Fuel Egg, an incomplete launch pad can be seen being built to the right of the Hatchery and Research Building. To finish its construction, two things must be reached: A laying rate of 100,000 Rocket Fuel Eggs per minute and 100,000 Soul Eggs. After the rocket pad has been constructed, players can then fund and fuel spaceships and send them on interstellar missions to find, and retrieve, Artifacts.

Funding a spaceship requires a specific amount of bocks. Once funded, the spaceship must be fuelled using a certain amount of eggs (later, spaceships requiring multiple types of eggs) as a percentage of the farm's laying rate. Only one spaceship can be fuelled simultaneously, and players do not have to wait for the previously-launched spaceship to return before fuelling another. Three spaceship missions can be active simultaneously. Prior to Version 1.21, players with the Standard Permit only had one mission slot, and those with the Pro Permit had three. Additionally, the fuelling process of a spaceship can be aborted, losing all of its fuel. Spaceships cannot be aborted once launched.

Players start out with the Chicken One, and additional spaceships are unlocked after launching a set amount of the previous spaceship.

Strategy[]

Send short length trips of the best rocket you can send. That is the fastest path to Atreggies Henliner, the last/best ship. On your journey to Atreggies Henliner, don't worry about crafting. Anything you can craft today will drop for free from the next ship. Most artifacts from lower ships will be comparatively useless in a month or so. Use what you have while you work your way up, but you're probably safe to consume most of the stuff you get. You should not consume ingredients however under any circumstance.

Spaceship statistics[]

A spaceship's capacity value displays the amount of items it will bring back, and the sensor level displays the approximate quality of the items. Spaceships launched outside of the Capacity Boost event will not have its capacity increased. Additionally, spaceships launched before upgrading the FTL Drive Upgrades or Zero-G Quantum Containment Epic Researches will have their duration and capacity unaffected.

A spaceship can have three different mission types, each affecting its capacity and the quality range of the items it brings back. These are short, standard, and extended.

In Version 1.21, stars were introduced to increase a spaceship's capacity and quality. Stars are obtained by gaining experience from launching spaceships, with each star requiring more experience than the last. The spaceship type affects the experience required per star and the maximum stars it can obtain, while mission type affects the experience gained per launch.

Quality[]

Ships have a quality range; provided you do not set a sensor target (which modifies the range downward, although the specifics are not understood; it appears that setting a target drops minimum quality to 0), this sets the minimum and maximum quality Artifacts, Eggfinity Stones, and Ingredients you can bring back. However, not all qualities are real; for example, there is no item with quality below 0.5. The formula for determining specific drop rates is not known, and it may be (and likely is) the case that quality ranges extending into nonexistent qualities helps with drop rates. Ships also have a "quality" of their own.

We do have a heuristic formula for untargeted ship drop rates - this is usually but not always accurate. Here is the formula for dropping a given target:

Notes:

  • Fragments and Stones count differently here.
  • Shininess of an artifact results in different odds multipliers but does not change quality.
  • Because in practice fragments and ingredients all have odds multipliers above 1 and artifacts and stones less than 1, extended ships have a reduced chance to bring in fragments and ingredients and an increased chance to bring in artifacts and stones.
  • qmax increases 5 times faster than qship as you gain stars, so the gap between them grows as well.
  • Ship Quality as it is used in the formula does not match Ship Quality as it is listed in the game files. Ship entries below that list the ship's quality are therefore showing you a number the game does not actually seem to use.

Fuel Tank[]

Main article: Fuel Tank

In Version 1.21, the Fuel Tank was introduced, allowing players to fuel from that instead of from the farm. It has a base capacity of 2 billion and an output rate of 300 million per minute. Players can remove fuel from their Fuel Tank using the sliders. Simply drag the slider to where you want to dump the fuel, and tap 'remove' on the prompt that appears. This slider snaps to 1% increments.

The Fuel Tank has 7 upgrades, requiring the Pro Permit and Golden Eggs to upgrade. The upgrades cost a total of 15.3 million Golden Eggs, and the final upgrade increases the Fuel Tank's capacity and output rate to 500 trillion and 3 trillion per minute, respectively. The Fuel Tank's output rate is not affected by the Fuel Boost event.

List of Spaceships[]

Each spaceship after the Chicken One has a prerequisite of a certain number of launches of the previous ship, so the fastest way to unlock new spaceships is to stick to the "short" missions. For all spaceships, this is also the way to maximize how many items the spaceship will collect per unit of time, provided you are always ready to launch a new spaceship when one returns. Extended launches eventually take three or four different eggs as fuel, drastically increasing the time required to launch ships, owing to the need to change farms and the associated need to manually buy basic research all over again.

A fundamental concept inherent to spaceships is "quality" - how "good" its items are. Everything a spaceship can return with has an arbitrary quality value assigned to it which is not determinable by the player, and a spaceship only collects items within a given quality range. For the same spaceship, longer missions offer higher quality items. Note that the lowest quality items are quality 0.5, so as a practical matter, any quality below this is equivalent to 0.5.

Ships have star ratings, ranging from 0 (no stars) to a maximum amount varying by ship - the most, the Atreggies Henliner, can go up to 8 stars. Each additional star raises the capacity of all three runs you can make with the ship, by an amount that varies by both ship and run - the Extended Atreggies Henliner goes up the most, at +10 capacity per star, but all ships go up by at least +1 per star. Stars are collected by gathering enough launch points to pass a certain threshold which varies by ship; launch points are gathered by ship runs and vary by run but not by ship. A short run generates 1 point, a standard run generates 1.4 points, and an extended run generates 1.8 points. This means for any given ship, you raise its star rating the fastest using short runs, provided you can fuel fast enough to keep up. It is not possible to directly see how many launch points you have or need in the game's interface - instead, when you are choosing a ship to fuel for a run, each ship has a circle drawn around it, showing your progress towards the next run.

Zero-G Quantum Containment applies after star ratings and is then floored. For example, an Extended Atreggies Henliner has a base capacity of 86; with 8 stars, this raises the capacity to 166. If you also have all 10 levels of Zero-G Quantum Containment, this is then increased by 50% to 249.

FTL Drive Upgrades applies to the Quintillion Chicken and above; these are also the only ships that can have a target set. While setting a target for a ship does increase its drop rate of the family you target (e.g. if you target shell stones, the sum of the drop rates of all tiers of shell stones will rise), the quality of the ship goes down, which can easily mean the drop rate of the highest tier of that family goes down. As a general rule, the only ship where you should seriously consider setting a target is on a 8-star (i.e. maxed out) Atreggies Henliner, unless you are replete with Golden Eggs and willing to craft what you need from lower-tier components. Even with a 8-star Atreggies Henliner, targeting can hurt you with certain hard-to-acquire items.

Chicken One[]

Chicken Heavy[]

The Short Chicken Heavy is the most time-efficient ship available without FTL Drive Upgrades - it picks up, even at 0 stars, 12 things every 45 minutes, or 0.267 things per minute / 16 per hour, and it only requires one egg as fuel, meaning you never have to prestige to fuel it, and can instead just sit on a Rocket Fuel farm, spamming it. If all you need is low-quality crafting materials, this is the ship for you.

Short Chicken Heavies are also excellent sources of T1 Shell Stones and Lunar Stones (the lion's share of each is accomplished by consuming T1 Demeter's Necklaces and Vials of Martian Dust), if you are looking to increase your Crafting experience without spending Golden Eggs (Shell, Lunar, and Tachyon Stones are the three stones which enable this technique).

BCR[]

From this ship onward, all ship launches require at least two eggs as fuel, requiring you to either use the Fuel Tank or to periodically prestige in order to continue launching ships. Even if it did not, the total worth of what it brings in - number of items multiplied by average quality, divided by how long the mission takes - is worse than that of a Chicken Heavy.

Quintillion Chicken[]

This is the first ship to have minimum returnable quality above 0; its minimum is 0.5, which is the lowest actual item quality (that of Ancient Puzzle Cubes), which means this minimum doesn't do anything at all. This is also the first ship to be affected by FTL Drive Upgrades.

Undroppable[]

Here is everything an 8-star Henliner can't drop due to the quality of the item being higher than 16.48 (the highest quality real item is the T4 Light of Eggendil, which is quality 16.1); everything in this list must be crafted in order to acquire it:

However, while an 8-star Henerprise or Henliner can drop the T4 Light of Eggendil, they will do so extremely rarely.

Henliner vs. Henerprise[]

If you haven't maxed out Henerprise, just go straight to the Henliner. If you have maxed out the Henerprise, opinions are divided. Current general-ish consensus is to send extended Henliners (exliners), and during double capacity events to send two sets of extended Henerprises (assuming they are of a higher star level than your Henliner).

Although the Henliner has a lower minimum quality than the Henerprise, it has a higher quality, which, coupled with its significantly increased capacity, means that it is in fact better than the Henerprise when both have the same number of stars. However, a Henliner needs significantly more flight experience than a Henerprise for the same number of stars - in fact, with maxed out research it will still take 13-14 months to reach 8 stars on a Henliner.

Because Henliners have a lower minimum quality than Henerprises, they can drop a wider variety of things. Here are the things an exliner can drop that an exhen can't:

Here is a breakdown of how Henliners and Henerprises level. For simplicity, maximum FTL Drive Upgrades is assumed, but in relative terms, this doesn't matter, since the research applies to both ships equally. Note that the time is total, not incremental - the time to reach 8 stars is from 0, not from 7, in order to make it easy to see the total value of time spent on the ship in question. This also assumes 3 flight "slots".

Mission Fuel[]

This table shows the Eggs (fuel) required by each type of spaceship mission. The eggs are ordered cheapest to most expensive (left to right). This will hopefully make it easier to optimize which missions you launch given your available fuel and plans for doing a Prestige. Note the use of multiple eggs even on Short missions starting with BCR to encourage Prestige resets.

The following eggs are not used as fuel by any ship:

Trivia[]

  • On the Mission Control screen, the fueling progress bars for the currently funded ship are displayed in order from lowest to highest value egg, with an exception being that if you are on a farm with a valid fuel type then that egg's progress bar is larger and listed at the top.
    • If you are on a farm producing invalid fuel, the message "Current egg is not valid fuel" will be displayed.
    • If you are on a farm producing valid fuel (but that fuel has already reached its requirement and you still need other fuel before launching), the message "Current fuel type full, additional fuel required" will be displayed.
    • Only small egg icons are displayed on the default fueling screen. To see the name of the egg, tap on the rocket icon to the left of the screen.
  • Sometimes a later ship has lower capacity than an earlier ship, but the later ship has a higher quality to make up for it.
    • This happens for the first time with the upgrade from BCR to Quintillion Chicken.
    • It happens again when upgrading from Galeggtica to Defihent.
  • When you are launching your first two Chicken One rockets, you are presented with a screen that implies the options are only Demo and Standard (and Standard is shown as locked - so you cannot actually launch it). You can only see the Short and Extended mission types as options after you finish launching both Demo rockets, and you can then freely choose among Short, Standard, and Extended for all future launches.
  • Starting with Galeggtica, the ship will no longer fit on the fueling port. Instead, the spaceship will be in orbit while a smaller ship carries the crew.
    • The Galeggtica's fueling ship is similar in appearance to the Raptor spacecraft featured in the Battlestar Galactica, the TV series from which the Galeggtica was derived.
    • The fueling ship for the Defihent/Voyegger/Henerprise has a more aerodynamic design than the one used for the Galeggtica. This fuel ship is labeled "EGG-2802E", a reference to the Star Trek Enterprise ship registry number NCC-1701-D from The Next Generation upon which the Henerprise is based, with each nonzero digit increased by 1.
      • The Henerprise's sensor quality is named 'Next Generation'. This is a likely reference to the title of the aforementioned TV series.
  • In many cases, a previous ship's Extended Version brings higher quality artifacts than the current ship's Short version.
  • If a spaceship returns with an Artifact you've never had before, it will be labeled "NEW" on the collection screen.
    • An artifact of a new rarity (but the same type and tier as you've seen before) will not be marked "NEW".
    • Artifacts and Stones that are new will display a pop-up similar to one when crafting a new artifact.
  • Advanced Flow Control allows you to choose which percentage of eggs you'll divert toward fueling (as well as enable or disable the automatic stopping of fueling when upgrading eggs or prestiging). It is available as an option (below the "..." button to review the details of the ship currently being fueled) sometime after you unlock the Chicken Heavy Spaceship.
  • Only the two largest units of time remaining (days/hours, hours/mins, mins/secs) on each of your Spaceship missions will be displayed on the main screen of Mission Control. However, you can tap on the Spaceship in order to see more details (including the exact time remaining).
  • Note that an internet connection is required to collect rewards from spaceship missions. If you don't have a connection, you will get an error message when you try to collect, and you'll have to try again later once you are connected again.
    • This error also pops up when attempting to claim rewards after time cheating.
  • When a Contract awards Artifact boxes, the quality of the artifacts is based on the Standard length mission of the most advanced Spaceship you have unlocked. It uses the quality values from 0 stars of that ship.
  • Spaceship missions funded prior to Version 1.21 have a quality of 0 stars even after updating. The update only makes it so that newly funded missions have the appropriate star level (counting launches of that ship prior to the update).
  • Assuming the player always launches ships immediately after ships return, repeatedly launching Short missions will increase a ship's star level faster than repeatedly launching Standard and Extended missions.
  • For missions which only require 2 fuel types, there is a very simple fueling strategy for repeatedly launching them. Store fuel from one egg in your Fuel Tank and then build up a farm for the other egg. As your fuel tank depletes, refill it with eggs from the current farm. Then, when you can't launch any more ships, switch to the other farm. Repeat as many times as needed.
  • Several spaceship names are related to sci-fi media such as Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek (Defiant, Voyager, and Enterprise), and Star Wars (Millennium Falcon and Correllian Corvette). Others are related to real spaceships like the Falcon 9 and the Starship or BFR.
  • A Henerprise will release a total of 7.2 sextillion yottajoules of energy on its short (1 Day) mission. Calculating this, that means that it releases 83 quadrillion yottajoules of energy per 1 second of top speed burn. This translates into a whopping top speed of 170 quadrillion km/h.
