Egg Inc Wiki

Spaceships are a feature in Egg, Inc. introduced in Version 1.20 alongside Artifacts, and they are the primary means through which Artifacts, Ingredients, and Eggfinity Stones are found.

After a player has at least 1 Soul Egg and has reached a Rocket Fuel Egg Farm, they will see an incomplete launch pad being built to the right of the Hatchery and Research Building on their farm. To complete this building, players must reach an egg laying rate of 100,000 rocket fuel eggs per minute (meaning this must be done on a Rocket Fuel Egg farm) and collect a minimum 10,000 soul eggs.

After this, players can FUND and FUEL spaceships to go on interstellar missions to find artifacts.

Each Spaceship can run 3 different length missions, Short, Standard, and Extended (exception: the Chicken One spaceship also has a "Demo" mission length, but this is only used for the first two Spaceship launches). The different missions have different fueling requirements, and longer missions can return higher quality items.

Funding a spaceship requires some number of bocks, just like vehicles.

Once a spaceship is funded, the player must collect a certain amount of eggs for fuel (for later ships, certain amounts of different kinds eggs for fuel) by diverting some percentage of their production of eggs from shipping to fuelling until the required number of eggs of each type is achieved. Then they can launch the rocket. (Note that a mission may be abandoned at any time prior to its launch by pressing the Abort button if you decide you would prefer to launch a different type of ship or duration of mission. You will lose all current fueling progress if you do this. You cannot abort a mission after it has been launched.)

Players may only fuel one spaceship at a time, but once one spaceship is launched they can begin fuelling another spaceship (provided they have a slot available with up to 3) without having to wait for the first spaceship to return.

The capacity of a spaceship shows the minimum number of items the player will receive, and the sensor level shows the approximate quality of items the player will receive.

When spaceships return, the player is rewarded with various items including Artifacts, Stones, and Ingredients.

You must launch a certain number of one type of spaceship before you can build the next type. There is also a required number of soul eggs you must meet before being able to build each type of spaceship.

Before the prerequisites for a new spaceship type are met, the spaceship is displayed in the menu as a silhouette of its real image, the title is replaced with "IN DEVELOPMENT...", and the type of eggs needed for fuel is obscured (though the number of types of eggs is still visible).

Additionally, spaceships can gain stars after a certain number of launches. With each star, quality and capacity of that type of ship will increase.

Many spaceship names are related to sci-fi media such as Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek (Defiant, Voyager, and Enterprise), and Star Wars (Millennium Falcon and Correlian Corvette). Others are related to real spaceships like the Falcon 9 and the Starship or BFR.

In Version 1.21, a Fuel Tank was added so that players can store eggs from one or more farms and use them to fuel ships on another.

List of Spaceships

Each spaceship after the Chicken One has a prerequisite of a certain number of launches of the previous ship, so the fastest way to unlock new spaceships is to stick to the "short" missions. For all spaceships, this is also the way to maximize how many items the spaceship will collect per unit of time, provided you are always ready to launch a new spaceship when one returns. Extended launches eventually take three or four different eggs as fuel, drastically increasing the time required to launch ships, owing to the need to change farms and the associated need to manually buy basic research all over again.

A fundamental concept inherent to spaceships is "quality" - how "good" its items are. Everything a spaceship can return with has an arbitrary quality value assigned to it which is not determinable by the player, and a spaceship only collects items within a given quality range. For the same spaceship, longer missions offer higher quality items.

Ships have star ratings, ranging from 0 (no stars) to a maximum amount varying by ship - the most, the Henerprise, can go up to 7 stars. Each additional star raises the capacity of all three runs you can make with the ship, by an amount that varies by both ship and run - the Henerprise goes up the most, at +5 capacity per star, but all ships go up by at least +1 per star. Stars are collected by gathering enough launch points to pass a certain threshold which varies by ship; launch points are gathered by ship runs and vary by run but not by ship. A short run generates 1 point, a standard run generates 1.4 points, and an extended run generates 1.8 points. This means for any given ship, you raise its star rating the fastest using short runs, provided you can fuel fast enough to keep up. It is not possible to directly see how many launch points you have or need in the game's interface - instead, when you are choosing a ship to fuel for a run, each ship has a circle drawn around it, showing your progress towards the next run.

Zero-g Quantum Containment applies after star ratings and is then floored. For example, an Extended Henerprise is capacity 56; if you have a 7-star Henerprise, this raises the capacity to 91. If you also have all 10 ranks of Containment, this is then increased by 50% to 136.5, and then floored to 136.

Chicken One

The first two launches of Chicken One must be of the "Demo" type, and you can never launch the "Demo" type again after this.

Chicken Heavy

The Short Chicken Heavy is the most time efficient ship available - it picks up 12 things every 45 minutes, or 0.267 things per minute / 16 per hour, and it only requires one egg as fuel, meaning you never have to prestige to fuel it, and can instead just sit on a Rocket Fuel farm, spamming it. If all you need is low-quality crafting materials, this is the ship for you. In particular, this ship is the best in the game if all you're after is Gold Meteorites and you can afford the Golden Eggs necessary to craft what you need - you can gather so many Tiny (tier 1) Gold Meteorites that any other ship can't compete.

BCR

From this ship onward, all ship launches require at least two eggs as fuel, requiring you to either use the Fuel Tank or to periodically prestige in order to continue launching ships. Even if it did not, the total worth of it brings in - number of items multiplied by average quality, divided by how long the mission takes - would be worse than that of a Chicken Heavy.

Quintillion Chicken

Remarkably, this ship brings in the worst total worth - number of items multiplied by average quality, divided by time taken - of any ship, even underperforming the Chicken One. While this is the first ship to have minimum returnable quality above 0, its minimum is 0.5, which is the lowest actual item quality (that of Ancient Puzzle Cubes), so the increase doesn't currently change anything. This is also the first ship to be affected by FTL Drive Upgrades.

Galeggtica

The Galeggtica is potentially notable for having the least bad worst possible payload efficiency - that is, number of items multiplied by worst possible quality, divided by time taken - of any ship (at 0.15 for a Short mission). Because it has the greatest payload quality rate - number of items multiplied by average quality divided by time taken - of any ship affected by FTL Drive Upgrades, it retains this feature after maxing out the upgrade, which at that point multiplies payload quality rate by 4/3 (giving a Short Galeggtica a payload quality rate of 0.36).

Henerprise

Typically the best ship you can field, simply because it's virtually always better to fish for a higher-quality item to drop than it is to craft it yourself from dropped materials.

Trivia

  • On the Mission Control screen, the fueling progress bars for the currently funded ship are displayed in order from lowest to highest value egg, with an exception being that if you are on a farm with a valid fuel type then that egg's progress bar is larger and listed at the top.
    • If you are on a farm producing invalid fuel, the message "Current egg is not valid fuel" will be displayed.
    • If you are on a farm producing valid fuel (but that fuel has already reached its requirement and you still need other fuel before launching), the message "Current fuel type full, additional fuel required" will be displayed.
    • Only small egg icons are displayed on the default fueling screen. To see the name of the egg, tap on the rocket icon to the left of the screen.
  • Sometimes a later ship has lower capacity than an earlier ship, but the later ship has a higher quality to make up for it.
    • This happens for the first time with the upgrade from BCR to Quintillion Chicken.
    • It happens again when upgrading from Galeggtica to Defihent.
  • When you are launching your first two Chicken One rockets, you are presented with a screen that implies the options are only Demo and Standard (and Standard is shown as locked - so you cannot actually launch it). You can only see the Short and Extended mission types as options after you finish launching both Demo rockets, and you can then freely choose among Short, Standard, and Extended for all future launches.
  • Starting with Galeggtica, the ship will no longer fit on the fueling port. Instead, the spaceship will be in orbit while a smaller fuel ship carries the fuel.
    • The Galeggtica's fueling ship is similar in appearance to the Raptor spacecraft featured in the Battlestar Galactica, the TV series from which the Galeggtica was derived.
    • The fueling ship for the Defihent/Voyegger/Henerprise has a more aerodynamic design than the one used for the Galeggtica. This fuel ship is labeled "EGG-2802E", a reference to the Star Trek Enterprise ship registry number NCC-1701-D from The Next Generation upon which the Henerprise is based, with each nonzero digit increased by 1.
  • In many cases, a previous ship's Extended Version brings higher quality artifacts than the current ship's Short version.
  • If a spaceship returns with an Artifact you've never had before, it will be labeled "NEW" on the collection screen.
    • An artifact of a new rarity (but the same type and tier as you've seen before) will not be marked "NEW".
  • Advanced Flow Control allows you to choose which percentage of eggs you'll divert toward fueling (as well as enable or disable the automatic stopping of fueling when upgrading eggs or prestiging). It is available as an option (below the "..." button to review the details of the ship currently being fueled) sometime after you unlock the Chicken Heavy Spaceship.
  • Only the two largest units of time remaining (days/hours, hours/mins, mins/secs) on each of your Spaceship missions will be displayed on the main screen of Mission Control. However, you can tap on the Spaceship in order to see more details (including the exact time remaining).
  • Note that an internet connection is required to collect rewards from spaceship missions. If you don't have a connection, you will get an error message when you try to collect, and you'll have to try again later once you are connected again.
    • This error also pops up when attempting to claim rewards after time cheating.
  • When a Contract awards Artifact boxes, the quality of the artifacts is based on the Standard length mission of the most advanced Spaceship you have unlocked.
  • Spaceship missions funded prior to Version 1.21 have a quality of 0 stars even after updating. The update only makes it so that newly funded missions have the appropriate star level (counting launches of that ship prior to the update).
  • Assuming the player always launches ships immediately after ships return, repeatedly launching Short missions will increase a ship's star level faster than repeatedly launching Standard and Extended missions.
  • A good Exhen (Extended Mission Henerprise) fueling strategy for players with the Pro Permit is to store 14T Tachyon Eggs, 42T Dilithium Eggs, and 42T Antimatter Eggs in their Fuel Tank. They can then fully fuel 14 Exhens while on a Dark Matter Egg Farm. During this, they can add 42T Dark Matter Eggs to their tank, prestige, add 14T Tachyon Eggs, add 42T Dilithium Eggs, and then fuel 14 more Exhens while on an Antimatter Egg Farm. This idea can be repeated many times (cycling between resting on a Dark Matter, Antimatter, and Dilithium Farm).
  • For missions which only require 2 fuel types, there is a very simple fueling strategy for repeatedly launching them. Store fuel from one egg in your Fuel Tank and then build up a farm for the other egg. As your fuel tank depletes, refill it with eggs from the current farm. Then, when you can't launch any more ships, switch to the other farm. Repeat as many times as needed.
