Mail, a new feature introduced in update 1.20.5, sends announcements to players.

These are the current messages shown when a player receives mail.

3.3.2021	Notice:	Some boost prices will increase around 8am PST, Friday.

When you have an unopened mail, the mail box next to the trophy case will be open rather than it's usual closed state.
